Trading ethically and operating responsibly is a fundamental part of the Portwest business strategy.
Portwest's main aim is to minimise the impact their operations have on the environment and the natural resources they consume
Portwest understands that their workforce is integral to achieving their business goals and are fully committed to ensuring that all the worker's safety, human rights and wellbeing are respected. To achieve this, Portwest have developed a new initiative with clearly defined short and long-term sustainability goals. Portwest call this initiative Portwest Planet.
ENVIRONMENT
Portwest has signed up to The UK Plastics Pact which will transform the UK packaging sector and help stop plastics polluting the environment. 85% of Portwest garments carry the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label, guaranteeing that every component of this product has been tested for harmful substances.
LABOUR AND HUMAN RIGHTS
Portwest’s fully owned factories are certified to the WRAP Gold Standard. WRAP is the worlds largest, independent, factory based compliance programme for responsible production in the sewn product sector.
ECO-FRIENDLY RANGE OF PRODUCTS
In 2021 Portwest introduced a new eco-friendly range of products. Each of these products has been responsibly sourced and produced in the most environmentally friendly manner achievable.
SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT
Portwest is a member of Sedex, one of the world’s leading online platforms for companies to manage and improve working conditions in global supply chains. Portwest's fully owned factories are audited using the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA).
